I get so excited every time I'm going out and I'm getting all dolled up. From the beginning, the process of putting together an outfit all the way to getting ready from head to toe, I enjoy very much. I always try to incorporate either sequins and or glitter into my look, nothing says party more than this two elements. This time I wore glitter in my eyes, my ring finger and my shoes. When I don't have much time I opt for pulling my head up in a big bun, especially when I have to work late in a Saturday.

On January the 6th we celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings where we eat King Cake and whoever gets the small figure of baby Jesus (it can be more than one), hosts the Candelaria feast on February the 2nd. This year I wasn't lucky to get one...

This time I decided to set up a Hot Cocoa Bar with marshmallows, cinnamon and whipped cream performing as toppings for the hot chocolate. It's so easy yet so inviting, especially since I love everything bar/buffet.

The other night my sister and I went to dinner and afterwards we were in the mood to snap some shots and just be plain silly. We had a lot of fun, mostly because that day I already felt fun with my purple glittery brows. I love how you can add a twist to your whole makeup while most of the time brows remain the same.

I sure did take advantage of the holiday season. I went shopping, helped my mom decorate the christmas tree, drank hot chocolate and had great food among others. What I liked the most was wrapping the presents, the movie marathons with my sister (I wish she had more days off) and just relaxed enjoying the cold weather all cozied up with my cats. So after a well deserved vacation, I'm ready to start over this year. I chose the word "outstand" to represent this year for me. I will try my best more than ever and later on be proud of it. Since this year I'm graduating I have a lot of options on my mind, hope time and circumstances let me take the best decisions.

Minino.
He has no breed.
I've had him since last December, he's about to be 2 years with me! Yay!
My mom found it near her office, so she took him in, and he was supposed to be the "company's pet". Her boss decided to call him Minino; honestly it's not the name I would've chosen for a cat. Anyways, so after a month of being there she told me that he would be staying with us during the winter vacations, obviously I knew since the beginning that he would never go back. And it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. He's a blessing for me!

Well this is the best part; I've had cats through all my life, so believe me I know what I'm talking about. First of all, he licks (kisses) us very often, in our hands or our cheeks, you can tell it's his way of showing us how much he loves us. Since he sleeps with us every night, at exactly 5 am he would meow until someone lets him free so he can get to his food, because exactly at this time every night he gets hungry. If he gets no response, he would knock out our cell phones from the night stand table. He usually doesn't meow very much he mostly emits a guttural sound, weird huh, but very peculiar. Whenever our bedroom door is closed and he wants to get it he would make this sound. He also knows how to open doors; he jumps and hangs from the handle until it gets open. Clever, I know. He's truly special.

Besides cat food and water of course, chicken! But he wouldn't mind popcorn, corn and even avocado to name a few, I know he surprises me all the time.

Military sparkle

I love unexpected casual outfits like this one that is mostly about the hair and makeup. It's like I'm not going to the club but to a party so I can still play with my hair and makeup, even with my nails and jewelry. I decided to make it a bit more glam so it would complement the masculinity of the military shirt. I've been a fan of this messy bun for a while, it's super quick so that's a plus. This outfit is one of my favorite since I didn't left sequins out. As far as the makeup the glitter gave it a great twist. So excited for the upcoming holiday parties, already have several gifts waiting under the Christmas tree.

Molten lava cakes for two

Whenever I go out to dinner, I try to seal my meal with a delightful dessert, in the chocolate field; Molten lava cake is one of my favorites. Of course there are lazy Sundays in my pj's when all I want to do is watch a good movie and have some gooey dessert. So I find this recipe perfect for those days when only my sister and I are the only ones with this craving, since it's only for two and it's easy to multiply depending on the guests I have.

Molten lava cakes for two

(Of course, makes two)

2 squares of semi-sweet baking chocolate (I used Hershey's)
1/2 stick of butter
1/2 cup of powdered sugar
1 egg
1 egg yolk
3 tablespoons of flour

Preheat oven. Butter 2 pans and place them on a baking sheet. Microwave chocolate and butter in a bowl just a bit until the butter is melted. Whisk until chocolate is completely melted; add sugar, egg, egg yolk and flour. Divide the batter among the pans. Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until sides are firm and centers are soft. Let stand for a couple of minutes and then carefully run a knife around the cakes to loosen. Invert cakes onto the plates and serve immediately. You can serve with ice cream if you want or just some powdered sugar and some mint leaves or a strawberry.

When I first started baking, I don't even remember how old I was; I used to follow instructions on a Duncan Hines box, finishing my cakes or cupcakes with their frosting as well. I confess sometimes when I don't have much time or a terrible sweet craving or even when I'm lazy enough I go back to using this type of mixes. Of course sometimes I'll add a twist to the batter or frosting. Bottom line I find this to be the quickest way to a sweet treat since it doesn't require a lot of ingredients or time. And I am the type of person that prefers something homemade.

Low key silver

This is a very quick and easy tutorial and it's great for everyday. Since metallics are the new neutrals this fall, it can be quite useful. Sometimes I use this for running some errands that I combine with some glittery silver flats or to go to school with a low ponytail when I need to look more polished when giving a presentation in front of my teacher and classmates. After applying my moisturizer, eye cream, foundation and loose powder; I apply silver shadow all over the lid. Then I take some gunmetal shadow and apply it in the crease, emphasizing the outer corners with some black eye shadow for extra depth.

Next I apply a bit of silver shadow in the inner corners of my eyes, line my waterline with a black pencil and give my lower lashes a coat of mascara.

Using gel eyeliner, I line my eyes, curl my lashes and apply two coats of black mascara. Always black mascara for me.

Finally choose a discreet blush and a rose gold gloss to finish the look.

Birthday shots

The last week of October was very significant for me. I starting decorating my house at the beginning of the month all over with Halloween details, I enjoy it so much since it's the same day as my birthday. This little witch as well as a hanging rubber skeleton (not pictured) have been for years in our family, they're very special for me; remind me so much of my childhood. This year my family decided to throw me a surprise party, got me really excited, grateful and happy, loved the cake delicious and pretty! I know 28 are only two away from 30, but my life so far has been quite interesting, so I don't really mind. Since I'm always rushing, this year's costume was no exception so I got my hands on this Black Swan costume and decided to go up one level with the makeup adding some glitter and rhinestones to make it more my style. I really had a blast on the club that day, the only down fall was somebody accidentally burned part of my tutu. On the 31st between giving candy to the little trick-or-treaters and having dinner with some of my closest friends I ended up my 28th birthday pretty well, really felt very blessed.

Glitzy noir lips

Sometimes it's my shoes, sometimes my clothes, sometimes my nails, sometimes my purse, sometimes my makeup and in my makeup sometimes it's my eyes, sometimes my cheeks but this time are going to be my lips shining with the lights of the dance floor. I love this kind of lips because most likely I'm going to be the only one in the whole club with glitter on their lips. Let alone black lips. Of course here it's not common to see people with this kind of stuff in a non gothic kind of way. Anyways this is so easy to replicate, let me explain. Lips are lined with black liner. Filled in with black lipstick.

Any color glitter would be fine. I used pink and a bit of silver hologramic.

Glitter is patted on to the lips, combinations can be made.

Gloss can be applied, I personally think they shine a ton more without it, again it's up to you.

Oh how I love fridays! Weekend plans have changed throughout the years but what hasn't change is spending time together. Right now I cherish them the most, it's the only time I can fully enjoy them since work during the week makes it almost impossible. I miss the days when we were both students. Two different people that get along so well. We always have a dose of shopping, coffee, dinner, movies, getting our nails done, anything we are in the mood of.

As much as I don't like rainy days, the whole idea of feeling better was enough to get me going out for a walk. I was actually in the mood to go to the movies while it was pouring rain outside but since it was packed, it was no longer in our plans. Instead my sister and I decided to stroll in the mall and have some snacks. Due to me still feeling a little weird because of the recent flu and the weather that wasn't helping a lot, I chose 3 key points to stand out. Glossy wine lips, a leopard clutch and my favorite rhinestone fly brooch. I did a low side chignon, nothing fancy. And kept my eyes on the silvery side with smokey tails on the outside. A bit masculine for myself I must admit but that is actually one reason I like fashion so much, most of the times it's a reflection of our souls.

Last week I made a trip to celebrate my best friend's birthday and another friend's bachelorette party. It was nice to put the beginning of fall in stand by and feel what were to me, my last days of summer. It was hot as hell but not bad when near a pool and the ocean and a deliciously refreshing drink in hand. I chose to dress my nails in the brightest, neon colors possible, but since we were going out at night I thought what better than glitter and rhinestones to make the most of the party. I had a blast, now I'm ready to embrace fall and the colder weather.

So this week was my back to school and I'm on a job hunt so it was hard for me to put together a post, and the week before I was on vacation. The beach with no distractions, just plain relax, sun bathing and some shopping with the family. It was very pleasant and I could work on my tan a bit, not much as I would've liked but what can we do. Anyways I forgot my camera (ugh I know) so I'm going to see if I can rescue some pictures from my phone. Anyways, here is a quick tutorial on the matte lip trend. I love how it makes the color stand out more and it's quite easy.

Nothing can beat red long nails

So this weekend was kind of hectic, I mean for being off school. I had four clients for a bridal shower, including the bride to be, which happens to be my cousin. So that not included myself which had to be ready before all of them (5 am call). So basically this is my hair and makeup after 10 hours. I chose neutral colors since I had to get it off and reapply it for the night, and had my lips and nails stand out of the rest of my outfit.

After a lot that was going on these days including finals, I managed to attend my cousin's engagement party, go out clubbing with my friends (which ended in a late taco session btw) and organizing an express engagement party for my friends (pictures coming soon). I love packed weekends with a lot to do even though resting is not on the to do list. I'm finally free of school for the next whole month and a trip to the beach is coming up as well (one of the best things I have to expect in each year). On this occasion I got to combine both of my obsessions sequins and glitter, with gold being the center of attention color. In my makeup I decided to add depth with purple in the crease while covering my whole lid with golden glitter and tone it down with nude matte lips, my nails on the other side were purple with a golden gradient on the tips. I hope you noticed I went blonder, my hairstylist redo my highlights so I told her I wanted to go lighter for this summer. What do you think?

The night has surrendered

The first birthday of my closest group of friends started in July so that gets me really excited. She invited us over for some drinks then we went to the club. Since I've been having a lot going on saturday wasn't the exception, I got two clients for hair and makeup and ended up EXHAUSTED. It was just one of those days where all you want is to order some takeout and watch a movie until you fall asleep, but I had to be at my friend's celebration. So I thought that dramatic keypoints would complete the look and gave me a few minutes to nap. As of bold smoky glittery eyes, some bright animal print design in my ring finger (sorry it can't be seen in any picture), statement necklace and sequined leggins and clutch. I kept it lowkey with a white t-shirt and a messy bun.

Sunny summer

After exams and some hair and makeup gigs I'm back at enjoying the beautiful summer days full of sunshine and colors. I seriously don't want them to end, I still have some plans left. Last week there were some rainy days that prevented me to go to a baseball game with a friend that came to visit. Right now I am left with one more month before vacations, looking forward going to the beach and getting a tan.

Crepes

One of the things that I love the most about going to the movies is being able to grab a bite while watching a movie. Sometimes I'll have a roast beef or jamón serrano with cheese pannini, other times a ham and cheese crepe or a sweet one with nutella or jelly, in times even both, one for dessert! I love to recreate something I have at a restaurant or so, adding a twist of my own. I warn you, once I master a recipe or even if I do it once, I don't usually follow the quantities anymore, I do it on eye, until I guess I get the desired texture or flavor. The thing is, sometimes I'll search for a certain recipe and take the aspects that I like the most about several recipes found and create one of my own. This one is totally worth it!

Crepes

(Makes about 5 depending on the size of the pan)

About 1 cup of all-purpose flour
1 egg
About 1/2 cup of milk
About 3/4 cup of iced water
1 pinch of salt
1 tablespoon of vanilla (for sweet crepes)
Butter (needed quantity)
Bananas (n/q)
Strawberries (n/q)
Nutella (n/q)
Chocolate fudge (for decoration)
Cream cheese (n/q)
Ham (n/q)
Manchego cheese (n/q)

In a bowl, whisk the flour and salt with the egg, milk and the iced water until you get a runny liquid consistency. In the case of the sweet crepes, you add the vanilla as well to this mixture. Brush a bit of butter to the heated pan and with the help of a big spoon add the mixture, tilt the pan in a circular way so all of the surface gets covered. Let cook in medium heat for a couple of minutes and then turn and cook for a couple of minutes on the other side. When done, remove and set aside. Between each crepe, I would recommend to brush a little butter on the pan and add a little water to the mixture to make sure you maintain the same runny consistency. When you're all done it's time to fill them in. Start by arranging the desired combination of ingredients but just in half of the crepe and make sure you don't over fill it so it's easy to fold. Fold in half and then again in half. You can decorate if you want to.

*There's an infinite amount of combinations you can make either if you want them salty or sweet. I recommend the following:

-Ham and cheese with jalapeño peppers on the side (you can use any type of ham and cheese) (When I want something fancier I drizzle these with a mushroom sauce I achieve by melting butter in a pan, adding a couple of tablespoons of cornstarch for a dense consistency, I add a bit of milk, cream, cream cheese, sliced mushrooms and season with salt and pepper).

-Chicken and mushrooms -Cajeta and crushed pecans

-Cream cheese and nutella

-Cream cheese and blackberry jelly (or any type of jelly or preserves)

I love spring for all the bright colors, sheer, flowy fabrics, swimsuits, colorful makeup and nail designs. I came up with this playful design which is pretty easy as well, it just takes some time, be patient. After applying the base coat, I started with a fuchsia nail polish. I had this little rice shaped colored rhinestones that I've never used before. It was easier for me to separate the little stones by groups of colors, that way when I had the wet glue on the nail it would be faster to pick a color without repeating. The location of each stone was completely random.

Rainbow night

I spotted this blouse at a vintage store and it was love at first sight, not only because of the sequins which I'm obsessed with but because of the array of colors as well as the golden speckles in the fabric. So I decided to wear it to a night of clubbing with my friends. And instead of letting the blouse be the center of attention, I paired it with colorful glittery eyes which were the result of mixing about 10 different colored glitters and super long false eye lashes, which I still need to practice because I take too long to put them on. On my nails I wore a black nail polish with micro golden sparkles. And since I didn't want to have my whole hair down, I opted for a half up do with a Grecian braid. It's one of my favorite looks so far.

Lavender afternoon

I like to wander around the city with my sister, we usually go to any mall to window shop or to some place for coffee, and sometimes both. I wasn't in the mood to do something fancy with my hair or let it flow freely as I almost always do so I put it all together in a braid that ended in a twist. For my makeup I did soft purple in the whole eyelid all the way to the crease and two coats of mascara. Rosey blush and a subtle pink for the lips. Something low-key in my opinion. My nails on the other side had the right amount of sparkle for my whole neutral outfit.

Messy pompadour with braid

So this look is when you are in a hurry but you want something nice and not the typical braid so I think it's cool and most important time saving. I started by teasing all the hair in the crown with a small comb. I know you may look like a lion at first, don't worry, that'll get fixed eventually. I gathered all the hair as in a half do and made a twist, secured it with bobby pins, I crossed them for more support.

With the hair I was left with I made a low braid.

I kind of polished the hair in the front with some spray.

And finally pulled out some strands in the front.

Hello there! I know I haven't post a tutorial for going out or clubbing or so which I love by the way, so here's my first. The thing is that sometimes, well most of the times I'm in a hurry so I really really don't have time to take all the pictures before I go since it takes me so long to get ready. So anyways, I started by smudging some black eyeliner all over the eyelid. Then I applied some dark copper eyeshadow over the gel.

A bit of dark eyeshadow in the crease for depth and some shimmery white under the brow bone.

I used the same coppery eyeshadow, which btw has some green specks, to line the lower lashes.

Little one sleeping

One of the things that I find the cutest is catching one of my cats in sleeping mode or finding they want to join me for a nap. Besides watching them play, eat, passing by or just laying around, sleeping is the one part that I enjoy the most. Sometimes I'm not even sleepy or anything but still I will join them because it instantly makes my sleep way more pleasurable. I love how Minino (pictured) already knows that sleeping time means lights off and everybody quiet no matter how playful he is, he automatically starts purring and finds himself a cozy spot on one of our beds.

Ribbons on my hands

Hello there! First of all I'm very sorry for this abandonment but when it was not one thing it was another, sorry guys. I hope this new tetramester in school leaves me time for all the stuff I'm planning to do, including squeezing in community service, either a part time job or my internship, and most important I really really need to work out, it scares me out how the pool parties and stuff are just around the corner. I already have my schedule and it makes me happy that I will be up to 10 pm just for two days a week yeeeei. So this entry it's going to be about nails, a design I came up with since I wanted something pink but not so girlie. So this is great because it even looks cute in a certain kind of way.

So this is everything I used, simple right?

After my base coat, I started with a coat of baby pink. Then I did like a french manicure with magenta but a bit thicker.

I outlined the french with the black pen.

And finally I added a small bow over the line. Voilà! (here it is!) Final step is top coat.

Hello! So I'm finally back... I'm sorry but this two weeks after vacation have been hectic. First of all let me share with you that I had a great time with my friends at the beach, I didn't took the amount of pictures that I would've wanted and I couldn't work that much on my tan :( but anyways. I came back with a tremendous pain because of my wisdom teeth so this week I had to have x-rays taken so I can schedule the surgery. I'm starting finals this upcoming week so I'm excited about it. On another subject, finally Liberty of London for MAC arrived to Mexico and I got two lipsticks one for me (Blooming Lovely) and one for my sister (Petals and Peacocks) yeeeeeei! So I would be probably doing some tutorials with them. I promise I will posting often from now on specially now the tetramester is going to an end.

There's a mexican brand of nail polishes which are called Collection I've tried them for a while now and I'm very very happy with them because even though they're so cheap, they're long lasting and they come in a variety of cool shades. Unfortunately, they don't come with a name or a code to identify the color, so I will be naming them the color that they most resemble to me ok. Hi! It was about time for hair. Ok for this post I did a simple hairstyle that certainly looks good eirther for day or night, this is how I usually wear my hair when I go out. I started my dividing my hair in four sections as you can see the four hair clips. Using a large barrel curling iron I took a section of about 1 cm (sorry I don't express myself in inches, but I'm not used to it) in a vertical way as you can see.

I waited about 15 seconds.

This is how it looks, I know it looks more like a curl not a wave but just wait and see.

At this point you can use some spray if your hair doesn't hold the curl for long.

Continue this way until you're all done.

Finally just run your fingers through your hair and this should be the final result.

Cool Tones

Bonjour! Well since I know some french I'll sometimes be throwing some words or phrases in french and of course in spanish, but don't worry with the meaning in parenthesis for you. So for this look I wanted to use this combination of greens with some blue. I thought for St. Patrick's Day so why not? The thing is since it's not a holiday which we celebrate in Mexico I might as well not make a fuzz of it but still mention it. Next time I'll probably be including something totally green for nails and makeup but sorry not this year. I even wasn't that aware that I discover I accidentally wore green yesterday in my underwear... WTF? Anyways so for the tutorial, I started with a sheer cream eyeshadow in a yellowish/golden tone. Then on the inner corners of the eyes I applied some lemon green e/s.

I now blended in another tone of green toward the outer corners of the eyes.

Now on the crease I did some navy blue.

A little bit of a pigment also in blue to blur into the crease.

With that same pigment I lined my lower lashes.

On the brow bone I applied a cream on a stick e/s in a pearl shade.

Some light white sheer e/s on top of the cream.

I lined my upper and lower lashes with a blue pencil liner and applied black mascara.

To finalize some pink blush and pinkish nude lipstick.

Violets, petals and stems

Hello! For this entry I was inspired in violets, so for the part that would resemble the stem I used a sheer green shadow on the eyelid, this time I didn't used any cream e/s because I wanted a soft look. In the crease I used a soft purple which I blended with the blending brush towards the brow bone where I applied a shimmery pearl color.

I took a brighter purple eye shadow and applied it in the crease in order to give it a little bit more depth.

Now with a dark plum colored eye shadow I did a V shape in the outer corner of the eyes and then blended it a bit towards the inside.

I lined my eyes with a thick pencil eyeliner, curled my lashes as always and did two coats of mascara. I'm probably doing a review for the mascara that I've been using for years which I swear by.

Finally some soft pink blush, lined my lips in a soft pink and put on some pinkish lipstick.

Not so summery nails

Since I'm so ready to welcome the summer I decided to go for something summery but that still goes well with this weather. At first this design might look a bit complicated but it's not, specially with the help of the nail art pens, and besides it doesn't has to be that perfect since the combination of all the stripes makes it easy to disguise any mistake. BTW I forgot to show in the pictures that I used a thin brush for the yellow stripes. So if you don't have any pens don't worry you can use a brush instead, I once did this design without the pens and it was quite easy as well. Remember always to start off with a base coat to prevent your nails from getting stained, specially when wearing dark colors. This are the products I used:

I started by fillin one quarter of the nail with the yellow polish this way:

I filled another quarter of the nail with the white nail polish the same as the yellow. It's like a curved triangle.

I did two yellow waves with the thin brush.

I drew a thin line in the tips with the Stripe Rite as in a french manicure.

I did just one black wave.

Three small lines with the black nail art pen.

I put on a few black dots.

Then three small white lines beside the black ones with the white nail art pen and some dots.

Remember the top coat to finalize.

Leopard nails

Hello again! I was in the mood for some animal print on my nails with a funky twist for this weekend... The cool thing about this design is that you can make it look a bit different each time by alternating the colors... This are the products I used: I started by removing the previous nail polish and after filing my nails I applied a base coat. Then one coat of silver chrome nail polish. I did a few neon pink spots on each nail with the nail art pen. I added a few more spots with the black nail art pen trying to resemble animal print. Finish with top coat and the nail polish dryer.

Subtle Smokey

My first entry is going to be about an everyday look. It's a subtle smokey eye with pink nude lips. I say subtle and everyday in the same sentence as smokey because I love bold dramatic makeup even for everyday as long you feel confortable and you tone it down with low key clothing and accesories it should be fine.

1. I started off with a base of sheer dark grey cream eyeshadow.

2. Then some shimmery black eyeshadow all the way to the crease which I blended to the brow bone where I applied shimmery white shadow.

3. I applied eyeliner and mascara.

4. Finally pink blush and a highlighter and lined my lips in pink and lipstick.
